4. Tell us a little bit about yourself
- I am married to Bryce Channell and we have one little boy, Brandon (4). We are both from Abilene and both attended Wylie from Kindergarten to graduation. Our son, Brandon, is about to start his first year as a Wylie Bulldog! After graduation, I attended Hardin-Simmons University and graduated in 2012. I knew Wylie was where I wanted to be and these past 7 years have flown by! I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and crafting.
5. What is one item on your bucket list?
-I would love to go to Santorini.
6. What do you like most about teaching?
- I love teaching Kindergarten! Every year I get to witness children coming into my classroom having never held a pencil or scissors and by the end of the year they are reading and writing. It's an amazing transformation. I love thinking outside the box and finding ways to make learning fun and memorable. As adults, we often forget about the simple joys in life and it is amazing to witness so many eye-opening moments and experiences with my kids. When you think about it, a teacher's job is pouring your heart and soul into the lives of kids who will lead us into the future. I can't think of a better career!
7. What advice would you give an aspiring teacher?
-Always work from the heart -Develop relationships with your students -Be flexible -Find a good mentor -Have fun!
8. Who was your favorite teacher and why?
-Mr. Terbush & Ms. Humphrey were my 4th grade teachers and they are the reason I wanted to become a teacher. They made learning so much fun and memorable.
9. What are three things every teacher should own?
-Flair pens, sticky notes and teacher friends who love what they do and encourage you!
10. Your favorite quote or saying
-"By doing what you love, you inspire and awaken the hearts of others." -Satsuki Shibuya
